We’re thrilled to be supporting Roots Manuva on the Brisbane leg of his tour. Performing tracks off his brand new album 4everevolution as well as the classics from one of the most indelliable figures on the world Hip Hop stage over the last twelve years.

Making his mark with 1999s debut Brand New Second Hand, Roots Manuvas classic gravelly Jamaican flow has never been matched and his complex subject matter and use of language has developed across albums Run Come Save Me, Awfully Deep, Slime & Reason and a number of Dub interpretations and remixes of those albums. He has been a mainstay of Australian radio with tunes like Witness (One Hope), Collosal Insight and Let The Spirit dominating both airwaves and clubs still to this day.

His new album explores many sides and tempos of music perhaps not immediately associated with Smith, whose usual bag is a mix of smokey, reggae influenced downtempo and soundsystem culture. 4everevolution sees him flexing over other contemporary UK sounds like Funky and Dubstep (that have been influenced by his familiar Jamaica) and is mostly helmed by Manuva at the boards as well as including outside help from producers like local man Dizz1 who dominates on the forthcoming next single Here We Go Again.

Bringing with him his full live band, Roots Manuva will be setting venues ablaze with five studio albums worth of material as well as giving Australian audiences some of the first tastes in the world of the new material in a live setting.

High Energy, bass heavy electro dub vessel Dubmarine are taking the wraps off their brand new single Unconditional.

Unconditional is out 11 Nov through Sugarrush Records

Live, Dubmarine are nothing short of a phenomenon. Over the last couple of years, the band has done it the old fashioned way, earning themselves a must-see reputation through a relentless touring and festival schedule. Led by the vocal gymnastics of indigenous superstar and Gangulu man D-Kazman, the nine piece create deep dancehall, reggae, dub, and drum and bass rhythm pandemonium on stage, fusing elements of music from all around the world.

Produced by Brisbane’s own Aria award winning performer and producer Paulie Bromley ( George, The Beautiful Girls, Bobby Alu, Kooii) at the Tanuki Lounge, the band have captured the live feel of Dubmarine they have become renown for.

To further highlight the strength of the Brisbane creative community Dubmarine are sharing the single with heavy roots act Kingfisha featuring their new track Let You Know also produced by Paulie Bromley. The single also includes dub remixes of both tracks, Dubconditional receiving the loving treatment of Paulie Bromley while Kingfish’a Let you Know Dub has been re-imagined by Brisbane producers Drew-Id ( who produced Dubmarine’s Depth of Sound ) and Frank Booth.

Unconditional follows the success of 2010’s Depth of Sound Lp which enjoyed success across the country earning solid support from key radio nationally including Triple R ( Soundscape), PBS (Tipsheeted), 4ZZZ ( no1 most played album in Dec 2010), and FBI ( Pon the Dancefloor added to rotation)

Unconditional will be launched around the country with a string of dates and festivals up and down the east coast

High Energy, bass heavy electro dub vessel Dubmarine are taking the wraps off their brand new single Unconditional.

Joined by Kingfisha and Captain Dreamboat the night promises to be one to remember.

Kingfisha
Kingfisha are a 6 piece reggae/dub band from Brisbane. They have taken Jamaican rhythms and a love of songcraft, combining the two to create their own sound. Recently they have won Triple J’s Unearthed Roots competition and in a short time Kingfisha have emerged as one of the strong up-and-comers of the Australian roots music scene. Having toured the East-Coast and New Zealand several times, Kingfisha are a roots reggae force to be reckoned with.

Captain Dreamboat
Ofa Fanaika has given wings to a new musical offering known as Captain Dreamboat. Ofa Fanaika is from Lapaha in Tonga. Her undeniable charisma and stage presence provide rallying points for her reputation, But it’s her voice that truly shines. Captain Dreamboat are: Ashley Farlow (JACK AND THE GIANT KILLER) on drums, Chris McKelliget (CHOCOLATE STRINGS, ALLAN BOYLE) on bass, Sun Jay Jude ( RUDEKAT SOUND SYSTEM) ON keys, Stevie Buchanan (BULLHORN, UPSTEPPERS) on horns, Lachlan Mitchell ( LANEOUS, MELOTONINS ) and Ofa Fanaika on vocals .
